Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A persistent conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their complaint states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
